How to Make Malted Waffles

My sweet little boy (SDS) helped me with my first blog project using the Baked Explorations cookbook.  We decided to do the malted waffles first since it was, after all.....a cold Saturday morning in January.  Don't worry if you don't have buttermilk.... there's a easy fix for that below.*

Recipe adapted from Baked Explorations:
 Malted Waffles
2 c. flour
1 c. malt pwd.
2T. packed brown sugar
1 t. baking soda
1 1/2 t. baking pwd.
1/2 t. salt
2 eggs, room temp.
2 1/2 c. buttermilk
6 T. melted butter, cooled

Mix dry and wet ingredients separately.  Make a well in dry ingredients. Pour in whisked wet ingredients. Fold gently.  There will be a few lumps, don't panic.  Cook in desired waffle iron.

*Sour milk recipe:  1 c. milk add 1 T. white vinegar. Stir.  Let sit for at least 20 minutes.
